An industry thought-leader in the application of telematics to the automotive insurance and maintenance industries, Fred Blumer is a sought-after speaker and author on the topic.  An entrepreneur able to turn ideas into products, Fred co-founded Vehcon in 2012 after exiting Hughest Telematics, Inc., which sold to Verizon in 2012.

Keynote and panel engagements in just the last three years include the Consumer Electronics Show, Insurance Telematics Europe, Insurance Telematics US, Connected Vehicle Trade Association, Automotive Aftermarket Products Expo, Telematics Update and the Insurance Telematics ExecuSummit.  Dedicated to educating both supplier and industry peers, Fred also has given Webinars for Risk & Insurance Magazine.  Finally, he has authored or contributed to articles in such industry-leading publications as The Wall Street Journal and Insurance & Technology magazine.  A trusted resource, Fred has provided perspectives to the likes of Bain & Company and McKinsey for telematics and insurance market overviews.


A serial innovator, Fred founded Vehcon, Inc., a connected vehicle services company based in Atlanta, Ga., in 2012. 


Fred most recently was a co-founder of Hughes Telematics, Inc. , a leading provider of telematics services to the automotive industry which was sold to Verizon in 2012.  Hughes provided systems to automakers like Mercedes-Benz and Volkswagen, and data services to leading insurance companies.

Fred is a graduate of the Harvard Business School and a former Research Fellow at Kyoto University, Japan.  He has more than 10 utility patents issued and pending in the aftermarket insurance telematics space.
